PRESERVING AND INTERPRETING THE HISTORY, SIGNIFICANCE AND TRADITIONS OF THE STRONGSVILLE AREA

As a way to connect with the youth in our community and to connect future generations with the history of Strongsville, the Strongsville Historical Society has become the sponsor for Cub Scout Pack 157!  Our organization is looking forward to working with these scouts and their families and providing opportunities for them to get involved with community service by helping out with various projects and activities at the historical village throughout each year.

Strongsville Society of Model Railroad Engineers

You may not know that the Historical Village has had a well hidden gem in the basement of the Baldwin house for many, many years.  This is the home of the Strongsville Society of Model Railroad Engineers!  This club of model railroad enthusiasts has built an unbelievable HO scale train layout that spans almost the entire basement of the building.

This display is formally open to the public in September each year as part of the Annual Harvest Festival, but club members meet almost every Saturday morning to run their trains or to work on their latest project.  The layout is always evolving.  They love to talk about their hobby with other model railroad enthusiasts, so take the time to stop by some Saturday morning and check out their creation!  The entrance to the basement is through bulk head doors on the Northeast corner of the building.  If you see those doors up and in the open position, you can walk down the stairs and knock on the door.

Ron Spiga is the club president and you can reach him at honest_ron@ameritech.net
